At the special voters meeting held August 25, the voting assembly of approximately 140 voted unanimously to extend a Divine Call to the Rev. Mark Harris to serve as Associate Pastor of Cross Lutheran Church & School.  Pastor Harris currently serves as Associate Pastor, Grace Lutheran Church & School in Winter Haven, Florida.  In his acknowledgement letter received last week, Pastor Harris writes:  “…I eagerly ask for your continued prayers…we are deeply appreciative of your prayers for our family while we evaluate which Call the Holy Spirit intends for me to fulfil.”  We continue to pray for Pastor Harris and his wife, Brittany, as he deliberates over his two Calls.

During the month of September, you’ll have the opportunity to pick up a baby bottle from the Sanctuary.  Please take it home and fill it with monetary support for life!  Bring it back to church on Sunday, October 6.  Each year we support those who choose life for their babies by collecting funds that support Options For Life—the pregnancy resource ministry in our New Braunfels community.  (FYI—the Options facility is on Loop 337…right across from Cooper’s BBQ)

Sunday, October 6, annual LIFE CHAIN, from 2:00 until 3:00 on the sidewalk in front of the church.

Please find information about Cross’ Sunday School: times, location and more at this link.
Our youth thank you for supporting their ministry through the weekly Sunday morning purchase of tacos, etc.!  This is the MAJOR source of fundraising for District and National Youth Gatherings, as well as their Servant Event trips!

There are Christians who have dwelt in the Holy Land since Jesus did.  One of the means by which they live is the sale of carved olive wood.  On Sunday, September 22, we will once again be blessed to be a blessing—with the folks from the family of Rida Rishmawi, representing Bethlehem Christian Families.  They will bring an amazing assortment of carved-wood works of art ranging from many different kinds of crosses to intricate and ornate carvings of Christ, Mary & Joseph, and other biblical themes and scenes.  Want to do some early Christmas shopping?  This is tailor-made for you!  The display will be in the Fellowship Center all morning long on September 22.

Students in 5th to 8th grade interested in being an Acolyte, please email Trixy at with your service preference, 8:30a.m. or 11:00 p.m., to be added to the schedule.  Training will be provided the first two Wednesdays in October.

"You don’t have to stop asteroids with one hand or push a nuclear bomb through a black hole to be a world class hero.  The truth is, what you do to help others on a daily basis is what counts the most.  Not every day is going to offer us a chance to save somebody’s life, but every day offers us an opportunity to affect one.”  Mark Bezos – Lesson from a Firefighter.  As followers of Jesus Christ, we should find ourselves moved to help those in need and step forward, grasping opportunities to affect lives in a positive way.  C3Cross Coalition Connection, which stands for , is a new group ministry here at Cross.  Our goal is to help support local foster and adoptive families in need.  Stay tuned!  In the coming weeks, our ministry group will share with you opportunities where you can help.  If you have any questions, please talk to one of our group members, Jan & Ernie Simon, James & Shanna Smith or Patsy Saputa.  “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12
