CROSSWALK & CONFIRMATION CLASSES This Wednesday, September 8, the midweek education opportunities here at Cross get underway once again! For those in 7th Grade—we welcome Mr. Scott Nelson as the Teacher for the 7th Grade class, meeting in the Education Annex (modular building,) in Mr. Fink’s 7th & 8th Grade Classroom. For grades Kindergarten through 6th, there are classes for you! We meet from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. beginning this Wednesday.
NEW MEMBER CLASSES The next Adult Instruction Classes led by Pastor Fraker will be on two Saturdays in September - the 11th & the 18th. These classes go from 9:00 a.m. until around 4:00 p.m. Lunch is provided. If you would like to attend, please call Shanna in the church office to sign up.
HEALTHY LIVING WORKSHOP
On Saturday, September 11 from 10:00 am -11:00 am, David Luckemeyer, ChFC,FIC,(of Thrivent) will be giving a workshop on Long Term Care. This is sponsored by Whole Person Health Ministry. A light lunch will follow the workshop. Please RSVP to Rhonda Wood at 830-620-1419. Also that day will be Loss Support Group from 1:00 pm-2:30 pm and Care Givers Support Group from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm. All will be held in the Fellowship Center.
LADIES BOOK CLUB
The ladies' Book Club/Bible Study will once again meet on Monday, September 13 at 6 pm at Nadine Fink's home.Please read the Introduction and Chapter 1 of the book Really Bad Girls of the Bible (by Liz Curtis Higgs) and/or 1 Samuel Chapter 28 in the Bible. This is the story of the Medium of En-Dor. If you have any questions please speak with Angela Erickson or Nadine Fink. ALL ladies (young, old, and in between!) are invited to join us!
MEN'S CLUB FUND RAISER
Cross Lutheran Church and School needs an additional commercial lawn mower. The Men’s Club is sponsoring its Famous Fish Fry “Free Will Offering” Fundraiser, September 17, serving between 5:30PM and 7:00PM. No cost tickets are available as this is the means to determine the amount of groceries needed. Please obtain your tickets in the circle area between the Sanctuary and the Activity Center. The Men’s Club has pledged to match the funds raised up to $2,500.
SANCTUARY DEDICATION CELEBRATION
On Sunday, October 31, we will dedicate our new Cross Lutheran Church Sanctuary. The Preacher for the speciaservice of celebration will be The Rev. Dr. Gerald Kieschnick, President Emeritus, LCMS. The celebration service will be at 4:00 pm. Prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 pm will be special music including: a piano recital, organ recital, a concert by The University Choir of Concordia University Texas, and a Brass Recital. Following the Worship Service there will be a reception and a time of fellowship.
Youth News
Jr. High Bible Study begins September 17th and will continue every 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. We meet at 2 Rivers Coffee House at 6:30am and leave for school at 7:30. I will be unable to drive all of the kids to their different schools so I'm asking parents to help pick up kids and take them. Let me know if you're interested in helping out! I already have one parent for Oakrun kids.
Cross Walk and Devo and Fello start on Wednesday the 8th of September. The last Sunday Devo and Fello will be Sunday, September 29. We're going to have a short devotion and then we'll be taking Two-Step lessons since it's one of the requirements to living in Texas! Be sure to be here! We'll meet in the Youth Room and then head on over to the Fellowship Center.
PRE-CONFIRMATION RETREAT PLANS The date is September 17-18 at Camp Lone Star and registration and $25.00 deposit are due to Hailey Jo by September 1. Get the registration forms from Hailey Jo's box in the Fellowship Center. Parent chaperons are needed as well. More info will be out soon!

IN THE VINEYARD Confirmed Sunday, August 8, were two adults: Christina Pryor and Jason Sabolboro. Also welcomed into the Cross body of Christ were, Jon Rengstorf, and his children, Mady & Nick. Baptized on August 15 was Kaylee Jean Lyndon, daughter of Darrell & Melissa Tanneberger.
CROSS LUTHERAN SCHOOL NEWS Attention Cross Lutheran Eagle Fans! An Athletic Booster Club is being formed and will be an all-volunteer organization that supports Cross athletes in all sports programs. This Club is funded primarily from membership dues and merchandise sales. Dues will allow us to donate to the Athletic Program at Cross for certain expenses not otherwise covered by our budget. This morning, you will find an Athletic Booster Club Membership Club form in your mailbox in the Fellowship Center. If you or your business is interested in becoming a Booster Club Member, please fill out the form and return it to James & Shanna Smith.
MORE SCHOOL NEWS! We need you! Cross Lutheran School is forming a LOVE team - a group of volunteers who are willing to commit to one-two days a month to help the school staff out. This team would work in the office - copying papers for teachers, laminating, cutting, and other areas of office help. We are looking for helpers Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, or Thursdays from 8:30 - 11:30am. M.B.B.C. That stands for Men's Breakfast Bible Class. We meet from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. each Friday morning. We are studying the Old Testament book of Proverbs. Inspired writing, practical wisdom is expressed in this timeless book! Men-bring your Bible & join us! We meet at the Clubhouse at Landa Park Golf Course. Directions: take Seguin St. to Landa Park Dr., turn into Landa Park. Take Golf Course Dr., and it winds around to the Golf Course parking lot. The food's good, the fellowship is great, and the Bible study faith-nurturing!
PASTOR'S ADULT SEMINAR This seminar is held several times during the year for those desiring to learn more about the Christian faith from a Lutheran perspective. It is also for members who wish to reinforce their Lutheran training.
The Seminar is led by Pastor Fraker on two consecutive Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Usually the classes are the first two weeks in January, in May, and in September. Lunch is provided and child care is available. Watch the bulletin and newsletter for information and registration details or call the Church Office at 625-3666 for more information.
FOOD BANK COLLECTION The Food Bank Collection Sunday is always the first Sunday of each month. Our church-supported and operated Food Bank (S.O.S.) is in need of: can goods: vegetables, fruit, potatoes, meats, spaghetti sauce; also spaghetti, crackers, pancake mix and syrup — all of the items typically needed by a family. Your reflection of Christ’s love is greatly appreciated and much needed. Just leave your items in the cart marked, “S.O.S.” Volunteer workers (2nd and 4th Tuesday afternoons) are welcome and needed! Larry & Verlea Potter, Roger & Mary Kay Wilkie, Bill Kusch, Russ & Mary Graham, Don Fraker, Sr., Ray & Pat West, and Marlyn & Myrna Steiner will enjoy giving information and you’re welcome to drop by the Food Bank for a visit on our work afternoons.
