“Pray without ceasing!” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Even in today’s busy world, we can practice the idea of praying continually every day. Even though it sounds challenging, here are some ideas to help you get started: - Always write down a note when someone asks you to keep them in your prayers. Keep a prayer list with you. You can add to it any time, and pull it out when you have a spare minute to pray.
- You can also stick your prayer requests on post-it notes and leave them all over your room, your office, your car, or your entire house.
- Pray for people you see as you are driving.
- If you are stuck in traffic because of an accident or construction, pray for the safety of those involved.
- When you hear the siren of an ambulance or fire truck, pray for all those involved, whatever the situation may be.
- When you see a school bus, pray for the schools, teachers, school boards, and district administration. Pray for their athletics and other extracurricular activities. Pray for parents of those with school-aged children, praying for them to receive wisdom as they raise their children to follow God’s will.
- When standing in a line, pray for the people in front and behind you. Thank God for the opportunity to slow down your day! When you get to the front of the line, you will be ready with a cheerful smile instead of haste and impatience!
- When you step into an elevator, smile at and pray for those also riding with you.
- When you’re folding laundry, thank God for your clothes. If they are someone else’s clothes, pray for that person as you fold.
- Whenever the telephone rings, do not pick it up on the first ring; wait and pray a short prayer for the person calling you.
God’s blessings to you as you continue to enjoy the summer!
